P6 meet author Liz Weir at the Enniskillen Library for National Heritage weekend.

14th Sep 2016

Last week our P6 class went to the Enniskillen library for European Heritage Open Day. We saw Liz Weir and she told us lots of funny, sad and happy stories which we had never heard before. Here is one of the stories Liz told us:

The Irish Wolf Hound.

Once there was a queen and one day she was walking outside her castle when she heard twigs cracking behind her, when she turned around there was a wolf. She was that scared she fainted. When she woke up the wolf was dead, covered in blood, and beside her there was an Irish Wolf Hound licking her hand. That dog saved me, thought the queen. She ordered her slaves immediately to get the dog food and water, but then the next day the dog vanished into thin air. She sent her slaves with flaming torches to go and find the dog. Months after months, the queen dreamt about the dog and then one night she heard the dog howling. She sent her slaves to go and find it. When the slaves went out to find it, the castle was under attack and on the top turret there was the dog. When the battle ended the slaves went up to get the dog, but the dog had turned to stone. Days, weeks, months and years later the Queen could still hear the dog howling. THE END

We were really inspired by Liz Weir. We hope we will meet her again in the future and become as famous as her one day.
