P5 Making St. Brigid’s crosses
8th Feb 2016
Last week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2016 is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.”
On Monday 1st February, it was St.Brigid’s Day. St.Brigid is the patron saint of Ireland, dairymaids, cattle, midwives, Irish nuns and newborn babies. We all made St.Brigid’s crosses out of rushes to celebrate. The cross shows kindness and compassion towards God.
I think it was really fun to make the crosses and bring them home so we could hang them up. We put them above our doors or windows because they keep us from harm.
