The P3 children enjoyed a trip to Enniskillen castle last week to learn all about castles. This tied in with their topic ‘Fairy tales’.
The children loved seeing real castle and then getting to go inside, it was just like the setting of the many fairy tales they have been reading about in class. They learnt about the Maguires and what life was like in the castle from Catherine; Julian then brought them inside the castle, he showed them weapons and talked about what would happen during battles and when defending the castle. After this Julie let the children dress up like the Maguire clan and pretend to have their own banquet! To finish Catherine gave out quills and the children got to try writing using them with ink! It was a really great trip, thank you to Catherine, Julian and Julie.
