P2 learn about Dinosaurs
We have been learning about Dinosaurs in Primary 2 recently. We have also been having a go at being archaeologists and palaeontologists.
It was fun practicing some excavating on chocolate chip cookies using toothpicks! We have been digging carefully in our ‘Dinosaur Dig’, discovering dinosaur bones and fossils. We have been studying them using microscopes and magnifying glasses, using fact books to find out more. We were able to piece some of the bones together to make dinosaur skeletons. Some of the dinosaurs were trapped in ice and we needed to use salt to carefully extract them without damaging them.
We made a movie in class about the work of a palaeontologist using Microsoft Moviemaker. We even recorded our own voiceovers.
We’ve enjoyed finding out about dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Diplodocus and many others. We have been writing about our favourite dinosaurs and have also been contributing to an online discussion board within our Dinosaur Virtual Classroom on the computer.
We’ve also been making our favourite dinosaurs out of clay which is very tricky!
