Madison is awarded 'Chief Scout' award
Nine-year-old Madison from P6 (Mrs Cathcart’s class) has been recently awarded the Chief scout award for a challenge she set herself over the summer. Madison amazed her friends and family when she smashed her five peak challenge raising £700 for Mary’s Meals.
Madison hiked for five days over the summer, reaching the summit of five of the highest mountains in the UK - Slieve Donard, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Carrauntoohil.
The young adventurer has been hillwalking since age six and regularly hikes with her Scouts group. After hearing about Mary’s Meals in her local community, Madison decided to take on the challenge to help children like her gain an education and receive a daily meal.
Madison’s father reflected: “The first day of the hike was tough as she took on two of the highest peaks in the UK - Slieve Donard and Ben Nevis - in just one day. But Madison is really determined. If she says she is going to do something, she does it!”
Thank you to all of our amazing supporters who are scaling new heights for Mary’s Meals. As a result, more than 1.5 million of children are sitting in classrooms with full bellies and the energy to learn.
Well done Madison.
