Irish in Holy Trinity
March was a busy month filled with Irish activities that engaged pupils in various cultural and linguistic experiences.
Blitz Through the Medium of Irish
The month began with some of our P6 pupils attending a blitz organised by an t-Iompú Deiseal. This FSMD blitz provided a wonderful opportunity for the pupils to develop their vocabulary associated with football in an enjoyable and informal setting. Additionally, it allowed them to meet new friends who share similar interests, fostering a sense of community.
Fermanagh Feis Participation
Our pupils showcased their linguistic skills in the Irish section of the Fermanagh Feis. A total of 20 pupils participated in both the Comhrá (conversation) and Dánta Gaeilge (Irish Poetry) competitions. Their hard work and dedication were evident as they brought home an impressive total of 18 medals.
Seachtain na Gaeilge Celebrations
Before breaking up for St. Patrick’s Day, we celebrated our annual Seachtain na Gaeilge. The celebrations were a vibrant showcase of Irish culture, featuring a selection of poems and songs in Irish. The event also included delightful displays of Irish dancing and traditional music, which were enjoyed by all.
After-school Classes
Our after-school classes have become very popular among our P3 and P4 pupils. These classes, which will resume after Easter, provide an excellent platform for children to develop their vocabulary through a variety of games and songs. The interactive and playful nature of these sessions makes learning Irish both fun and effective.
In summary, March was a month rich in cultural activities, providing pupils with numerous opportunities to immerse themselves in the Irish language and culture. The events not only enhanced their linguistic abilities but also deepened their appreciation for Irish heritage.
