Holy Trinity's P6 are victorious in the St Joseph's Year 6 football tournament.
Holy Trinity Year 6 pupils participated in a 5-a-side football competition organised by St Joseph A level students as part of their Business Studies A level.
Pupils Caelan Jones, James Tierney, Luke McAnespy, Shay Johnston, Rhys Williamson, Alex Nikolof and Rory Morris represented Holy Trinity in the 5 a-side competition. They were competing against teams from The Model, Jones Memorial, St.Marys Tempo, St. Patrick’s Derrygonnelly and Killyhommon PS.
Holy Trinity participated with very skilful playing and showing great sportsmanship won 4 games and drew 1. This made them top of the League Standing. A semi final place against Killyhommon was guaranteed. The semi final was a very close match which resulted in a 2 - 0 win for Holy Trinity. Holy Trinity had reached the tournament final.
The final opponents were Jones Memorial with whom they had drawn an earlier game, a close match was on the cards. Holy Trinity, with true grit, rose to the occasion and delivered a great match with a 4 - 0 win
In total the Holy Trinity players scored a huge 24 goals in the Tournament and, even though he hit the cross bar during a match, Caelan Jones made a superb save in the final.
Mrs Palmer, St Josephs Principal, thanked all the boys for showing great sportsmanship and excellent behaviour during the tournament.
