Parental Involvement in Numeracy Primary 3

On Tuesday 23rd February, Primary 3 children and parents attended the Parental Involvement in Numeracy evening. The information evening focused on developing a more positive attitude towards Maths and making the subject fun. As part of the evening, the children were able to select exciting Numeracy focused games to play at home with their family. We look forward to hearing about which games are most enjoyable! The P.I.N programme lasts for six weeks and each week the children can choose a new game to play. The aim of the P.I.N programme is to develop children’s confidence and understanding of Numeracy through a fun and enjoyable approach.

There are many games online to help your children develop their Mathematical understanding, some are outlined below;

Tips for helping your child to enjoy maths:

  • Point out the different shapes to be found around your home.
  • Take your child shopping and talk about the quantities of anything you buy.
  • Let your child handle money and work out how much things cost.

Look together for numbers on street signs and car registration plates
