Cian gets to be a Hydro geologist for a while

23rd Mar 2018

Cian from Mrs Kelly’s P5 class took part in the Northern Ireland Science Festival and was featured on BBC News.

Cian got the chance to try out being a hydro geologist when he helped dye trace the water from the Shru Croppa river.  The river water makes its way through cracks in the rocks and joins the Owenbrean and Aghinrawn in the caves. The green dye - it also comes in pink - is completely harmless but using it allows hydro geologists to see where the water resurfaces,  they can trace the flow.  Hydro geologists can use the results to predict the water's effects above and below ground.
